Children & Young People

Accessible and exciting activities for children and young people in Calderdale’s lower valley. Thanks to support from IVE, we we are trying out new ideas and connecting with local families, and those that support them, to offer new activities.
Here’s what we’ve been up to so far!

Rainbow Art Trail

A fun outdoor activity for children of all ages and their families. Discover the colours of the rainbow with origami flowers!

This is a special collaboration with local artist, Catherine Davis. We meet in a local park and search for beautiful rainbow coloured flowers, and then make our own. Parents and carers join us too and there’s plenty of time to chat and relax as well.

We began offering our trail for refugee and asylum seeking families who live in the Elland area, with great success! We are now offering the sessions for all groups of children and young people who might be interested – please get in touch to find out more.

Dance & Draw

Fun and accessible creative workshops for children of all ages that provide a mixture of dance and drawing activities to promote emotional wellbeing and physical activity.

Children enjoy time to move and dance together, including choosing music they’d like to dance to and making their own moves. Then we explore different themes through drawing – for example, ‘happiness’, as part of our Elland’s Happiness Lab project, to find out more about each other. Parents and carers enjoy time to chat over a brew together too.

We have joined forces with local children’s centres via North Halifax Partnership to offer these sessions and they are also open to other local groups/ organisations working with children and young people who might like a workshop.
