The Welland Activator

Curious Motion’s first multi-year project, focused on reducing loneliness through dance, movement and the arts.

Introducing the Welland Activator, a long-term initiative in Elland and the lower valley of Calderdale to foster stronger connections and a greater sense of belonging.

The project is designed to facilitate meaningful connections among local people and those across Calderdale. By actively engaging with the community, we will bring local stories to the forefront, create fresh creative avenues, and celebrate the unique character of the area through various forms of artistic expression.

The project will continue until late 2025, offering a diverse range of opportunities for individuals of all ages and backgrounds to participate and contribute. Each year of the project has its own theme, informed by learnings and experiences so far. Year 1 is all about ‘limelight’ – bringing new stories into the forefront and exploring possibilities! Check out the various parts of the project below.
